***In order to have your name entered to win today's prize pack, tell me who your favorite Bible character is. Even if you don't know much about the faces in the Bible, don't be scared away! I'm not here to test anyone on their Bible knowledge, I'm merely curious as to who you heard about most growing up, or who left the biggest impression on you.***

My favorite Bible name (apart from Jesus...) has to be Queen Esther. And I'll tell you why! Beth Moore's Esther study is the first Bible study I did as an someone who thought they already had all the Bible stuff figured out. And I'm here to tell you, that study knocked my socks off. That was the first time I realized that while God's name is never mentioned in the entire book, the book is practically drenched in His fingerprints.

And I like knowing that. That even when I can't see God, even when He feels far away from me, His plans, His workings, His fingerprints are scattered all over my life.

Grand Prize Basket!
Apart from those sentimental reasons, I just love strong, beautiful, brave women! And it certainly doesn't hurt that Esther got to spend 12 months at a day spa! :)

Okay, that's enough for today. Don't forget about my giveaway at the end of the week! Today if you leave me a comment answering the above question, you'll not only be entered for today's basket but I'll also enter your name in the final drawing TWICE!!!

And writers...leave me your blurbs in the comments for a shot at some pretty amazing critiques. Read yesterday's post for more details.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday...And safe travels to all my ACFW friends! :)

  1. Moses has always been one of my favorites - such faith and conviction.

I remember making a Moses basket in Sunday School when I was very young. It certainly made an impression.

  2. Fun, fun, fun! Love it, Lacie and Jennifer! One of my favorite Bible character is Caleb. I love his character, who he was and his faith. jnbischof(at)hotmail(dot)com

  3. I love the story of David from beginning to end.

  4. I love the story of Joseph, how God was always with him, during the good times and the bad times, and he used Joseph in a mighty way.

  5. I don't know that she's my favorite character but I just LOVE Joanna, Chuza's wife who was Herod's chancelor. J was healed of unclean spirits and gave her life completely over to the Lord even in the face of terrible opposition from the ruler of her region! She paved the way for Jesus ministry, befriending Mary (Magdalene) and Susannah, other women who'd been freed and were ministering with Christ's followers. Quiet and unassuming, she went about her calling with joy. It is believed that she was there with the women watching the crucifixion, it is thought she might have been there when they took Him down, and it she might have been there with the women who first found the tomb empty. What a wonderful testimony!

  6. Wow. Favorite person from the Bible? Well, I am not going to include Jesus. But other than Him, Peter has always fascinated me. His devotion to a Lord that he would later deny three times, his broken soul being pieced back together as he raced toward the empty tomb, and his later dedication to spreading the Good News to everyone. His story is a story of redemption that I feel like I always need to hear.

  7. I'd say King David. He was a man after God's own heart, and yet, a royal screw-up. He wrote music and poetry, and hid out in caves. He had everything and lost it all. But all along, he was on a first name basis with Yahweh. AMAZING!!

  8. Joseph from the Old Testament,Jacob's favored son. I love the story of Joseph and how it illustrates the fact that not matter how far away God may seem and how much our circumstances overwhelm us sometimes that God is right there working things out in the background according to His purpose in our lives.

  9. My favorite person from the Bible would have to be Ruth.

  10. As a pastor's wife this one is tough for me to pin down. I hear about Biblical characters all the time in new light through my husband's sermons and I like a new one "best" all the time. I think if I were to choose one though, it would have to be Hannah. I admire the things she went through, challenges she faced, and the strength that she had through it all.

Side note: Years ago (before I met my husband) I had chosen Hannah for a daughter, if God ever chose to bless me with one. My husband had (before he met me) announced through a sermon that he wanted to lobby for his future daughter to be named Hannah. After finding each other and sharing our baby naming stories, I'm pretty sure if I ever have a child and that child is a girl, she will be my Hannah!

I'd love to hear your thoughts too!
