Oreo Hunting

In honor of my new Liebster Award, I'm supposed to write about other fabulously small but powerful bloggers today...in fact I want to! But I just noticed that the majority of the blogs I follow are BIG. Hundreds of followers, some even thousands.

So I have to put off this post while I research. And believe me, researching other blogs is sweet fun!

On a completely different note, today is the first day of school for my two munchkins. My little Ava is in Jr. Kindergarten and Cody is in Kindergarten. Not sure how I ended up with two kids in Kindergarten but it is what it is. :)

To be completely honest, I'm not thrilled about school starting today. I'm just not one of those moms that looks forward to sending off her kids. I'm selfish that way. I want them with me.

So today will involve a lot of whimpering and sniffling (when my kids aren't looking - I don't want to rain on their parade, after all).

Truth be told, I just kinda feel like being sad today so I'm off to find a box of Oreo's.

Happy Thursday everyone!!

  1. I'm always torn about the start of school and that first day you can guarentee I'm a bit weepy.

  3. Hugs, Lacie. The first day can be so tough on a mom.

My daughter's elementary school principal said she never forgot the woebegone look on my face as I walked away from the Kindergarten classroom that first day. Yes, I have an expressive face, and yes, there was weeping.

If you're like me, you might need some tissues along with those Oreos. And if it gets really bad, give me a call. I'm a survivor and will lend you my shoulder.

  4. Two kids. You need the double stuffed!

I was sad to see my kiddos go back last Thursday. :( Share the cookies, please!

  5. My son is three, and it is hard enough to drop him off at his grandma's three days a week. I miss him. Kids grow up too fast!

  6. Lacie, I know how you feel. The house just seems empty without them and a whole lot less fun. Where I live, mine don't go back for another few weeks. And one heads off to University, so that's a major adjustmentment for me.

Have that oreo, and delve into writing. Hopefully your story will help you through the separation anxiety!

  7. I have to say, it's so refreshing to read another mom who's sad to see her kids go off to school! So many parents cannot wait to offload them onto the teachers!!

And maybe I want my own bag of oreos... after homeschooling for a chunk of years, my youngest is trying out 9th grade at the public high school, and my oldest is starting college.

Oy vey, when did I get to be old enough to have kids high school & college bound??? lol

  8. I must say I've never heard of Junior Kindergarten. Hmmm? But I totally hear you on the OREOs thing. Good luck with that first day, and in a week, you'll be shooing them out the door (not really, but you know...)
