Someone Worth Dying For

Grace.

Worthiness.

Two concepts that I just can't wrap my mind around.

I look at the things I've done - the things I do - and I know I'm not worthy of His grace.

So it touches a deep place inside of me when I hear this song from Mikeschair.

And I think,

"Am I really something beautiful?"

"Am I really someone worth dying for?"

The lyrics of this beautiful song answer those questions perfectly.

You're worth it, you can't earn it
Yeah, the cross has proven
That you're sacred and blameless
Your life has purpose

You are more than flesh and bone
Can't you see you're something beautiful
Yeah, you gotta believe, you gotta believe
He wants you to see, He wants you to see that
You're not just some wandering soul
That can't be seen and can't be known
Yeah, you gotta believe, you gotta believe that
You are someone worth dying for
You're someone worth dying for
You're someone worth dying for

And that place inside of me that wants to earn my way, to prove that I can do better, is brought face to face with the reality that it's not about me. It's all about His sacrifice.

Share with me! Do you ever struggle with the idea of Grace and Worthiness? Are you like me in that it somehow feels wrong to accept a gift that you don't deserve? Do you have a favorite song that speaks straight to a hurting place inside of you?

(In other news - the beautiful and funny Kelley Gerschke has generously bestowed upon me two blog awards, which will be posted soon! Yet another kindness I don't deserve! Thank you, thank you, thank you!) :)

  2. I do struggle now and then with grace and worthiness. I think everyone does - maybe in different ways.

When I feel this way, I listen to The Casting Crowns - Who Am I? ...and I remember that it's not about us.

  3. Beautiful post, beautiful song.

Grace and worthiness is tough to wrap a brain around. Sometimes, I remind the Lord how undeserving I am and He reminds me, I am but dust. I am dark but lovely.

So loved this post today, friend and congrats on your awards! You do deserve them! :)

  4. We are not worthy! HE is!!! The song reverses the truth of Christs sacrifice for us in order to reify one of the worlds most popular current lies. That self esteem is a Christian goal. We esteem HIM!! Not ourselves!
